Found the girl of my dreams. :)
Most of you already know this, but I'm now living with the girl of my dreams. She's wonderful, smart, cute, beautiful, kind, sweet, and in love with me. She's also living with me... :) For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, her name is Amanda. I love her. We have now spent 13.5 months together, and I've never been happier. | | Sunday, November 27th, 2005 | | 1:42 pm |
My father passed away
Last Saturday, at 12:20am, my father passed away. He was 60 years old. If you're curious about him, you can look at one of the recent articles here. I flew to Arizona on Sunday, and have been here since then. I'm heading back to California tomorrow. Current Mood: sad | | Tuesday, October 5th, 2004 | | 2:24 pm |
Today's odd dream...
October 5, 2004 Dream: I dreamed that I was at a resort, that I believe was in Australia (right near a pole, since daylight was possible 24 hours a day. The hotel used Greek currency, for some odd reason, but was british. I was wearing black shorts, that went to my knee, and a white t-shirt. I had a razor sharp knife strapped to my leg. For some reason, I was an agent of some sort, and the bad guys were at the resort as well... but we both were restrained when other people were around. Then, I discovered cricket. I think it was cricket, except it was played with anywhere between 2 and 10 people per side, in a 5 room court, arranged like a plus sign, plus one room at the intersection. There were also grandstands, and you could walk from the court into the grandstands during the game. In addition, there was the "Royal Starter" box up at the top of the stands, that players had to go through to get into the game. The Royal Starter box had turf walls and doors leading to it, to designate it, I believe. In addition, there were two sides to a match, but the sides were made up of multiple teams. I discovered the game, and discovered that I was really good at it. In the dream, I walked on and joined a team (who wore Red uniforms, blue uniforms, and yellow(?) - not sure about the yellow = uniforms). After helping them win the match against the bad guys (who wore all black and all white cricket uniforms) a girl (from the red team) walked in with two assistants. She was fairly important, and she was gorgeous. She was about 5'6", she was in great shape, and she had red, wavy hair that went to the top of her shoulder blades. In the dream, I really started to like her. Since it never got dark, one could play 24 hours a day, by merely moving about 20-30 minutes in a boat to a new area of the resort - there were mountains and the ocean both in the resort. The next time I was at the game, I was sort of on this girl's team - I say sort of because I definately wasn't on the red team, but I played on their side, and they considered me an ally in the match. For some reason, I knew that the bad guys were planning to play unfairly, and seriously injure the girl. I also knew that I could take care of the bad guys at whatever they were planning to do. They attacked, and I whipped them. However, I got drawn out of the room where all of the red team was, and they (including the girl) got injured by attack chickens. (The girl was scratched on her arm). I went back in there when I realized that the girl wasn't with me, and saved her from further injury by kicking a chicken out of the air as it was attacking her. Then, the rest of the red team refused to be evacuated until they were sure that she would be okay. I used some power of mine to heal her, but it took almost 20 minutes. Afterwards, we went out and announced to the crowd at the game that she was ok... in a weird, non-verbal way (going out, holding up a scrap of red cloth, pointing to the face, then making the thumbs up gesture with both thumbs). She and I started talking then, and I left the game room with her (sort of going on a date, I guess). And that's where the dream ended. Weird, huh? Might make a decent episode of a tv show, I guess. | | Tuesday, September 21st, 2004 | | 5:29 pm |

Info on the date with Caryn
By the way, in case anyone cares what Caryn and I did during our date, here's the scoop. We met at Yari's apartment at 7:00pm. I beat Caryn there by about 1-3 minutes. Got to see Laura (who is Yari's girlfriend, and a friend of mine), and Yari. Also got to meet Laura's cat, but I forgot the cat's name. Cute cat, though it's pretty large (not fat, just BIG). After a little smalltalk around the apartment, we decided that we should all go get food, since Laura was hungry, and I hadn't eaten much all day (I'd had a cup of cold cucumber soup). All in all, cucumber soup is NOT what one should eat to settle a stomach, as it turns out. We went to the Grove to get dinner at the Chinese place upstairs there. I can't remember it's name, but we had a very good meal (Laura and I did the picking of the meal). We had Salt and Pepper Calamari, Sweet and Pungent Shrimp, Mu-shu Chicken, and the Sizzling crispy noodles. Also, our waiter looked like the love child of John Belushi and Will Farrell. We got to know each other some over dinner... and the conversation went pretty well. Yari and I occasionally geeked out and went into technical speak, but all in all, dinner was pleasant, even if nothing special. I bought dinner for us all, and got reimbursed by Yari for his and Laura's portion - although I hadn't asked for it. After that, we headed back to Yari's place. Yari needed to head to bed, since he had to leave the house at 5:30 the next morning to go do a commercial shoot. Laura, Caryn, and I decided that we didn't want to stay home, so we decided to head to a bar to talk and have a drink. Eli (Laura's cousin) called and decided to hang with us. So, the four of us headed out, and eventually ended up at Molly Malone's, on Fairfax. We had a good time, got to know each other, and got to talk a lot, even if the music was fairly loud. I convinced Eli to go up and talk to the cute girl at the bar, and he managed to get her number. I believe he ended up losing the number the next day, however. :( Caryn is interesting. She actually is really cute, and she looks an awful lot like Jennifer Jason Leigh, from the Hudsucker Proxy. Her face also looks a ton like Allie Sheedy's, although she doesn't think so. Caryn's out of town for Labor Day (visiting a college roommate in Montana), so we're going to hang out when I get back from Maine. I hope this works out. She seems like a really nice person, and I hope that I'm good enough for her. As always, comments appreciated. However, I don't care who you are, sign the comments.... :) It drives me nuts to try and figure out who left which comment.... and then I'm totally screwed if I don't know you already! Anyhow, I'd love to hear thoughts, comments, ways to woo her, and so on. Current Mood: Depressed and Happy. ?!?! | | 11:29 pm |
Random Musings
1) I had a date on Saturday night. Sort of a double-date with Yari and Laura, and I was meeting/dating Caryn. The evening started off sort of slowly, and it took a little while for us to hit it off. However, after a while, Caryn and I really started getting along. Hopefully, after I get back from Maine, I'll get to see her again. 2) The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun is an odd book. Interesting, and I'd COMPLETELY forgotten how it ended. Good surprise ending. Rather depressing on the whole though, or maybe that's just my mood tonight. 3) Shippers who don't know how to pack computers annoy the living bejesus out of me. 4) The song "Own Kind of Music", by Daydream, is really an addictive song tonight. I've listened to it at least 30 times (according to iTunes) so far, and it keeps growing on me. "Nobody can tell you there's only one song worth singing. They may try to sell you, cause it tears them up to see someone like you. Play your own kind of music, sing your own special song. Make your own kind of music, even if nobody else sings along." The weird thing about this song is, I can't tell if I like it because I'm depressed, or if I like it because I'm happy. I'm encouraged more than I probably should be by Caryn. So... this means that once I get back from Maine (the 8th), I've got dates with Caryn, and Sara, the waitress from Outback. Sara and I are going to go see Resident Evil: Apocolypse... Today's poll: Is Drew an idiot? In any case, please tell me everyone else's comments... I'd love to hear them. Current Mood: Depressed and Happy. ?!?! | | Thursday, August 19th, 2004 | | 12:17 am |

Why do I wonder these things?
It's my birthday, and the overriding queston I have is: If you take cookie dough, and cook it in a skillet (flipping it and all), how would it turn out? | | Monday, July 26th, 2004 | | 1:09 pm |

This is way too cool....
The banners aren't exactly worksafe... but this is the absolute coolest thing I've ever seen. Anyone know who it is? -Drew | | Thursday, July 22nd, 2004 | | 10:57 pm |
Cool!
For those of you who have a windows machine (I’m sorry!), and occasionally need a compiler... Microsoft has released a free version of Visual C++ - that actually compiles and optimizes the code. (Previous free versions didn’t do optimization). Anyhow, the site is here. | | 3:13 pm |

Had a good dream last night
For some strange reason, I dreamed that I was out at a bar with some friends (not people I know in real life, though). And I met a girl named Thavaa (pronounced ta va) in the dream. Good dream.... :) | | 12:17 pm |
Oooooh!
I want this really badly... It costs too much... but I think it would be worth it at some point... Maybe after my kitchen remodel? | | Saturday, July 17th, 2004 | | 12:58 pm |

Best Cooking site EVER!!!
I know, I know. I sound like an idiot with that headline... But seriously: This is the funniest cooking show I've ever seen, while actually having a LOT of good info. -Drew Current Mood: Bemused | | Friday, July 9th, 2004 | | 4:18 pm |

Gattaca
Today's question is: Why does the movie Gattaca make me cry every time I see it? -Drew Current Mood: Bemused | | Tuesday, June 29th, 2004 | | 12:49 pm |
